Hi guys, welcome to my first unboxing video on this channel. First product I will be unboxing is LG’s flagship UltraWide monitor for 2016, 34UC98. Basically, it is a refreshed version of 34UC97 introduced last year. They both have 21:9 UltraWide 34″ curved IPS screen with 3440 x 1440 resolution, different connection options and adjustable stand. Still, there are several differences between those 2 monitors. Apart from different stand, which now looks similar to Samsung’s, new model has steeper screen curvature – precisely 2 times as steep as the old model. Another difference is support for AMD’s FreeSync which up to this year was limited to lower UltraWide resolutions like on LG’s 34UM67 monitor.
The third difference is in more powerful USB 3.0 connector which now features Quick Charge technology for faster charging of your battery powered devices. There might be other differences between old and new model, but for now this is what I’ve discovered. Stay tuned for full review which will be available soon for more detailed analysis. I would also like to mention that LG’s provided me with a copy of Tom Clancy’s The Division to try on this monitor, so also expect report on gaming performance. If you want me to check anything specific during testing, please drop me a note in the comment section. Enjoy the rest of the video and see you soon!.
